The 9th Annual Alexandria Film Festival is back, offering an impressive selection of features, short films and special events. During four days of programming, you can enjoy over 60 films from international filmmakers including many local films and filmmakers from the DC metro and Alexandria area.
Film screenings begin Friday, November 6th with two free days of programming at Beatley Central Library. Friday’s screenings include short works about the temporary staffing industry, undocumented migrants in Sweden, and saving Scarlet Macaws in Honduras. Seating is first come, first served in the library.
On Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November 8th AMC Hoffman Theater 22 (206 Swamp Fox Rd) will show several films – including a short film festival. All AMC events require tickets. (Visit www.alexandriafilm.org for a complete list of movies and to purchase tickets.)
The film we are looking forward to seeing is On The Wing. It is a tale about four teens who uncover a plot to destroy bald eagles in order to reach the oil beneath their nesting grounds. Written, directed, and produced by Alexandria’s own Jerry Casagrande, it has already won Best Feature at the Louisville International Festival of Film. You can catch it Saturday at 10AM.
