For healthy folks (with good backs), shoveling snow can be a great way to get a workout and some fresh air. But for others, snow can be a dangerous way to keep people indoors. There are some disabled and elderly in our city who could use a helping hand. So, if being outdoors and helping others sounds good to you, you may want to be a Snow Buddy. Last year, Snow Buddy volunteers helped more than 47 Alexandria families who needed snow removal.
If you can join volunteers the Snow Buddy team, visit http://www.VolunteerAlexandria.org and search ‘Snow Buddies’.
You’ll be matched with neighbors who need your assistance when the flakes start falling.
