At long last Art on the Avenue is here! On Saturday, October 10 (the date was changed due to a rain delay) from 10AM – 6PM you can enjoy this multi-cultural arts festival in Del Ray! Every year, over 50,000 visitors enjoy walking along Mt. Vernon Avenue between Bellefonte and Hume Avenues. There will be over 300 artists – jewelers, woodworkers, potters, soap crafters, glass makers, unique painters, sculptures, fabric artists – displaying and selling their wares. You can enjoy Irish, folk, rock n’ roll, and country music.
Food vendors will be there, of course – hot dogs, Indian, BBQ, chocolate-covered bananas, crab cakes, home-made donuts! And the pie-baking contest is back!
Kids activities include stuffing your own scarecrow, painting pumpkins, weave screen art, lotus flower design, spin art and more! But our favorite activity from last year was the sand art, sponsored by GW Middle School. Kids (and some adults) created works of art by putting different colored sand in outlined shapes. It will be held in the parking lot at 2701 Commonwealth Avenue. Check it out!
Thanks for the helpful info!!
Now it has been delayed due to weather until Oct 10th – see you there!
